When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

I recently heard an arrangement by Kathryn Scott of this wonderful hymn. I have felt the Lord working on me through the words and I would like to share them with you.

When I survey the wonderous cross, on which the Prince of Glory Died. My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it Lord that I should boast, save in the death of Christ my God. All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His Blood. See from His head His hands His feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down. Did e'er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown. Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were an offering far too small. Love so amazing so divine, demands my soul, demands my soul, love demands my soul, my life, my all.

I think the verse about vain things charming us most is so relevant in my life right now. There are things that at first glance don't appear wrong or bad for you. In fact they are good things. But when they start to pull my gaze from my Lord, they become vain things. Thank you Lord for using this beautiful hymn to speak to me. I hope that it will speak to all who read it as well.

Yay, you're posting again!! Good to hear from you - glad you like the England pictures, it's fun that people are enjoying them. Your kids are growing, Katie looks bigger! :) Looking forward to seeing you when I get home.

I meant to comment on your post, too, got carried away! It's true we are easily distracted - quiet focus on Christ and what He has done for us reminds us of who we are in Him. Encouraging!
